Speaking to al-Yawm Al-Sabi news website, Ahmed, who is the son of late Qari Sheikh Abdul Razzaq Jandali, said a large number of worshippers were present at the mosque to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) when he performed his recitation of the Quran there a few years ago.
Among them were a number of prominent Quranic figures, including Sheikh Ahmed Mohamed Amir, and Sheikhs and scholars from Al-Azhar Islamic Center, he said.
They all applauded him for his beautiful recitation and wished him successes in becoming a great Qari like his late father, he noted.
Ahemd lives in Kafr al-Jarawin village in Sharqia Governorate in the northern part of Egypt.
He started learning the Quran by heart at the age of 6 with the help of his father.
He would also eagerly listen to his father’s Quran recitations and soon started to imitate his style of recitation.
The first time Ahmed recited verses from the Quran before a crowd was at the age of 14.
It was at a funeral ceremony in his home village.
Those attending the ceremony were surprised by his beautiful performance and encouraged him to continue on the path of Quran recitation to become a great Qari like his father.
Ahmed says that in addition to his father’s, he like to listen to Quran recitations by eminent figures like Sheikh Taha Fashani, Sheikh Mustafa Ismail and Sheikh Hamdi Zamil.
He is soon scheduled to take an exam to become an official Qari of Egypt’s Quran Radio.
