Speaking to IQNA, Walid al-Fayadh added that he never feels tired of providing services to the pilgrims.

Moukebs are resting places with special facilities and services for pilgrims set up on roads leading to Karbala during the pilgrimage.

Walid has been in charge of the Thaqalayn Moukeb since his father, who founded it several years ago, passed away.

He said the Moukeb has six halls, each with the capacity to serve 75 pilgrims.

“Every year, we begin serving the Arabeen pilgrims on the seventh day of (the lunar month of Safar) and continue to do so until the 19^th day of the month, which is one day before Arbaeen.”

He added that some 50 people work in the Moukeb in different sections such as cooking, cleaning, etc.

Walid further hailed the enthusiastic presence of people from around the world, including Iran, in the annual pilgrimage, saying the Arbaeen march plays an important role in foiling enemy plots to sow discord between the two nations of Iraq and Iran.

Arbaeen comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam, Imam Hussein (AS).

Each year, a huge crowd of Shias flock to Karbala, where the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) is located, to perform mourning rites.

In the past few years, around 20 million pilgrims from all over the world took part in the mourning ceremonies in the Iraqi holy city marking Arbaeen.

Arbaeen falls on Tuesday, October 30, this year.
