27 Countries to Attend 6th Int’l Quran Contest for School Students

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A total of 38 students from 27 countries will take part in this year’s international Quran competition for school students, an official said.

 

Speaking at a press conference in Tehran on Sunday, Mohammad Reza Mosayyebzadeh, head of the organizing committee, said the competition will kick off here in the Iranian capital on Wednesday.

He said the contenders will compete in two sections for boys and girls.

The Iranian Education Ministry organizes the Quranic event.

The 36th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran as well as four other international Quran contests- those for women, school students, seminary students, and the visually-impaired- will be held in the country on April 10-14.

Elsewhere at the press conference, Mosayyebzadeh, who is also an Education Ministry official, referred to the Quranic activities of school students and said there are 750 Dar-ol-Quran centers in schools across the country.

He added that different activities and programs are organized in these centers throughout the school year, including Quran memorization courses and Quran recitation programs.
