Teenage Iraqi Quran Learners Meet with Senior Cleric in Qom

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A number of teenage participants in Iraq’s Amir-ul-Qura Quranic plan and officials of the plan who are in Iran on a visit met with a grand source of emulation in the holy city of Qom.

During the meeting, Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani urged the Quran learners to strive to serve the Book of God and take recourse to the teachings of the Quran and Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).

He also hailed the Amir-ul-Qura Quranic plan’s achievements and thanked the officials for implementing the plan and parents of the children for striving to raise the children on the basis of the love for the Quran.

During the meeting, the Iraqi Quran learners performed Quran recitation of the Quran based on the styles of great Qaris Sheikh Abdul Basit Abdul Samad and Sheikh Mustafa Ismail.

The Iraqi delegation consists of 18 teenage Quran learners accompanied by a number of Quran experts and officials.

In the Amir-ul-Qura Quranic plan, 64 teenage Iraqi Qaris learn to recite the Quran in the styles of masters like Shahat Anwar, Abdul Basit, Ismail and Minshawi from Egypt and Khalil Ismail from Iraq.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
