TEHRAN (IQNA) – The national Quran competition for women in the United Arab Emirates is underway with the participation of a number of women from other Persian Gulf countries.

Titled Hessa bint Mohammed Award for Holy Quran, it has been organized by the UAE’s Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Organization in different cities.

It includes several sections for women, school girls, girls attending Quran memorization centers, and women and girls with physical or mental disabilities, Al-Bayan website reported.

The section for those with disabilities has been added to the contest for the first time this year.

The competition is aimed at serving the Quran and promoting Quran memorization among women and girls.

Identifying Quranic talents in the fields of memorization, Tajweed and recitation is among other objectives of the Quranic event.
