Sharjah University Quran Contest Goes International

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final round of a Quran and Sunnah competition organized by Al Qasimia University in Sharjah, the UAE, began in the city on Sunday.

 

As many as 391 individuals are taking part in the contest, held for university students, the lomazoma.com website reported.

More than 20 students attending the Quranic event are from other countries, meaning it has become an international Quran contest for the first time.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Rashad Salem, chancellor of Al Qasimia University, hailed the cooperation of Sharjah Quran and Sunnah Institute for contributing to the organization of the contest.

He also highlighted the efforts made in the UAE for promotion of Quranic activities in different fields such as recitation and memorization of the Quran.

The contest will run for four days in the fields of memorization of the entire Quran, 20 Juzes (parts), 10 Juzes and 5 Juzes of the Quran and Nabawi Sunnah.

Winners will receive cash prizes amounting to 300,000 Emirati dirhams.
