TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani deplored the Israeli massacre of Palestinian people and called for Muslim countries’ strong reaction to the Israeli crimes at the upcoming OIC emergency meeting in Istanbul.

In a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar on Thursday, Rouhani described the Israeli killings of Palestinians and the US embassy relocation from Tel Aviv to Quds (Jerusalem) as deplorable for the world community.

He referred to the emergency meeting of leaders of Organization of Islamic Cooperation member states, planned to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, on the recent tragic events in Palestine, and said Muslim countries should show a proper reaction to the Israeli crimes.

Elsewhere in the phone conversation, Rouhani congratulated the Qatari government and nation on the start of the holy month of Ramadan

Qatar’s emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, for his part, slammed the US Quds move and the Israeli crimes in Gaza and described the upcoming Istanbul gathering as a good opportunity to address the issues.

The US opened its embassy in Quds on Monday despite worldwide protests.

During protests against the move in the Gaza Strip on Monday, at least 60 Palestinians were killed and more than 2,700 more were wounded as Israeli forces used snipers, tank fire and tear gas to target the demonstrators.
