Speaking to IQNA, Barakatallah Salim who served as a member of the panel of judges in Iran’s 35^th International Holy Quran Competition earlier this year, said if visually-impaired Quran activists are given the opportunity and have qualified teachers, they can improve their Quranic skills and get even more successful than those without disabilities.

He added that the participants in the international competition for the visually-impaired, which was held in Tehran in May, concurrent with the 35^th International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, had the opportunity to show their talents in the Quranic event.

Elsewhere, Salim underlined the role of international Quran competition in enhancing unity among Muslims since followers of all Islamic schools of thought adhere to the teachings of the same Divine Book.

He noted that his home country, Afghanistan, does not hold international Quran contests, but national and local Quranic events are organized in the country regularly.

Salim began learning the Quran in his teenage years and mastered the 7 styles of Quran recitation at the age of 19.

He has won 12 international Quranic awards so far.

The Quranic figure has also authored several books on Quran interpretation and Tajweed recitation of the Quran.
