Winners of European Quran Contest Announced

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Organizers of the third edition of an annual European Quran competition in Berlin, Germany, announced the winners on Sunday.

 

According to al-Watan daily, Abdul Malik Abdul Jasim from Germany (originally from Syria) came first in the contest, held on memorization of the Quran.

The runner-up was Muhammad Jama from Britain, said Issam al-Falij, secretary general of Kuwait-based al-Manabir Quranic Association, which co-organized the event.

He added that Samar Saris from Germany won the third rank.

Representatives of 15 European countries took part in the contest, which was held in October 19-20.

Al-Furqan Quran Memorization Society was another organizer of the Quranic event, attended by more than 1000 contenders.

The members of the panel of judges were Qaris and Quran experts from countries like Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Yemen, Syria, Kuwait and Bahrain.
