TEHRAN (IQNA) –  Sudan has announced that it is going to postpone its international Quran competition.

The organizing committee, in a letter to different countries, including Iran, said the contest will not be held in 2019.

The capital, Khartoum, was scheduled to host the 10th edition of the event in late January.

However, the committee announced that it will be held in 2020, Fars reported.

No reason has been given for the postponement of the international Quranic event.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has attended all previous editions of the competition.

In 2014, Iran’s Mahmoud Norouzi won the 4th rank in Sudan’s Quran contest.

This year, Mojtaba Alirezalu was planned to represent the country in the competition.
