TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman hoped that the recent changes in Saudi Arabia’s government will lead to adoption of more realistic views by Saudi statesmen.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Monday, Bahram Qassemi was asked by IQNA about how the cabinet reshuffle in the Arab country could affect Riyadh’s regional policies.

Such changes in the Arab country are not unprecedented, he said, adding that while it is more a domestic issue, it could have also resulted from developments in the region such as those in Yemen and Syria.

He hoped that it would bring about a more realistic view of the region in Riyadh.

On Thursday, King Salman of Saudi Arabia reshuffled the cabinet, naming a replacement for Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.

In a royal decree, the Saudi king named Ibrahim al-Assaf as foreign minister in the new cabinet.
