Students Quran Competition Begins in Saudi Arabia

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition for university students got underway in the Saudi province of Jeddah on Sunday.

 

According to spa.gov.sa website, 500 students from 21 state and private universities of the province are taking part in the contest.

It is held on memorization of the Holy Quran at four levels for men and women.

Salah bin Salim Baothman, head of the organizing committee, said the contenders are required to have mastery over the rules of Tajweed, Waqf and Ibtida.

He added that a 10-strong panel of judges comprising experts in different Quranic fields evaluate the performance of the contestants.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes totaling 500,000 Saudi rials, he went on to say.
