Iran Int’l Quran Contest: Preliminary Stage Begins

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The preliminary stage of Iran’s 36th International Quran Competition has gotten underway, an official said.

 

According to the website of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Mohammad Taqi Mirzajani, head of the competition’s technical and refereeing committee, said in this stage, the participants’ qualifications are evaluated without a need for their presence in Iran.

He said in the recitation category, they are required to send video files of the recitations while in memorization, the participants’ mastery is evaluated by contacting them via special software and asking them questions on the verses they have memorized.

Mirzajani noted that 250 Qaris and memorizers from 50 countries are taking part in this stage.

Those who score the minimum required points will be invited to Iran to take part in the semifinals, which will be held at the hotel where they will be staying, he added.

The final round will be held on April 10-13 at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Mosalla of Tehran, he went on to say.
