Karbala to Host Gathering of Iraq’s Religious Leaders
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 4th gathering of leaders and representatives of Iraq’s religions and sects will be held in the holy city of Karbala later this week.
According to the website Imamhussain.org, the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine will organize the event, Talal Kamali, an official with the organizing committee said.
He said the gathering is aimed at promoting a moderate religious discourse and developing understanding and peaceful coexistence among Iraqi religious communities.
Representatives of Iraq’s Christians, Mandaeans, Izadis, and Sunni and Shia Muslims will take part in the convention, Kamali noted.
The holy mausoleum of Imam Hussein (AS) will host it on Thursday, March 7, he went on to say.
