TEHRAN (IQNA) – An International Conference on the features of Imam Ali’s (AS) leadership has been organized since August 17 at the India Islamic Cultural Center in New Delhi.

The inauguration ceremony of the conference was attended by Ayatollah Sheikh Mohsen Al-Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought from Iran, as the special guest of the program.

Addressing the ceremony, he highlighted some of the features of Imam Ali’s (AS) leadership including the popularity of the Imam and voluntary alliance of the people which made his leadership different from other rulers who achieve power through sword and bullying.

Prevalence of justice was the other feature of the then Islamic nation under Imam Ali’s (AS) leadership, the cleric said.

He added that the status of the Imam should be introduced to the world by holding various conferences and conducting broad academic studies.

The program was also attended by a representative of the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine and Iran’s ambassador to India as well as the former governor of New Delhi.

The Indian official said in the program that Imam Ali (AS) was a perfect role-model in terms of respecting human rights and the world should take an example of his Seerah and leadership.

Cultural activists were honored in the ceremony and a new book about Imam Ali (AS) was unveiled as another part of the program.

The three-day international event has been organized by the Institute of Islamic and Arab Studies, Safinatul Hidaya Trust and Delhi Minorities Commission.
