Over 1000 Quran Memorizers Honored in Karbala

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A ceremony was held in Karbala, Iraq, to honor those who have memorized the Quran taking the courses organized by the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine.

 

According to the website of the center, the Quranic courses were a part of the “1000 Quran Memorizers” Plan implemented by the center all over the country.

Over 1250 male and female memorizers of the entire Quran were honored in the ceremony held on August 25 with the participation of religious figures from Iraq and other countries.

The program started with Quran recitation by Osamah Karbalayi, Qari and Muazzin of the holy shrines in Karbala and continued with a speech by Abdul Mahdi Karbalayi, custodian of Imam Hussein’s (AS) holy shrine.

He thanked the organizers of the Quranic plan and announced that a similar plan is due to be held for training 10000 Quran memorizers in Iraq in the near future.

A documentary about implementing the plan was screened in the ceremony following a speech by Sheikh Hassan Al-Mansouri, director of the center.

Also addressing the ceremony were senior Iranian Quran master Abdul Rasul Abayi and Raf’at Ali Daib, a Syrian Quran master.
