TEHRAN (IQNA) – Governor of Egypt’s Northern Sinai Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha gave his approval for organizing a Quran competition in the governorate, an official said.

According to al-Yawm al-Sabi news website, Mohamed al-Aash, director of Northern Sinai Department of Awqaf, said the competition will start on March 3.

He said it will be held at different levels on memorization of the Holy Quran.

Mosques in cities and towns across the governorate will host the competition, he noted.

The official added that four committees have been set up to evaluate the qualification of those willing to take part in the Quranic event.

Winners will be honored at a ceremony in the governorate on April 25, he went on to say.

North Sinai Governorate is located in the north-eastern part of Egypt and encompasses the northern half of the Sinai Peninsula.
