TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran memorization and recitation competition was organized at the Iranian Cultural Center in Ethiopia on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.


According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO), the opening ceremony of the Quranic event was held in Addis Ababa with the participation of Quran students, teachers and Quran activists of the country.

It was addressed by Seyyed Hassan Heidari, the Iranian cultural attaché, who highlighted the importance of memorizing the Holy Quran.

Also speaking at the program was Iranian preacher Hojat-ol-Islam Mo’inian who quoted some Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) about the Holy Quran and said that holding the competition in the holy month of Ramadan adds to its spirituality.

More than 70 Ethiopian Quran students attended this year’s competition and were gifted a copy of the Holy Quran.
