TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Qari from Iraq came first in the 12th Mafaza international Quran competition broadcast by Al-Kawthar TV channel.


According to the TV chanel’s public relations office, Iraqi Falah Zulayf bagged the top prize with 92.25 points and better Tajweed score.

The runner-up was Ahmed al-Sayyed al- Ahmad Al-Sayyed Al-Ghaytani from Egypt who also gained 92.25 points.

Mohammad Mohammadi from Germany, Seyed Foad Shokavi from Iran and Mohsen Shojaei from Afghanistan came third to fifth, respectively.

The phone-in Quran competition titled “Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) begins on the first night of Ramadan every year.

It is the Muslim world’s biggest live Quran recitation competition aired by Al-Kawthar, an Arabic-language channel within the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting’s World Service.

This year’s competition was attended by more than 200 Qaris from different countries.
