TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Quran memorizer and reciter Hossein Poorkavir arrived at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (RA) International Airport on Sunday morning.

Poorkavir, who became the runner-up in the recitation category of Tunisia’s 17th international Quran competition, was welcomed by a number of Iranian Quranic officials at the airport.

Deputy head of the Supreme Quran Council Seyed Ali Sarabi and Head of the Quranic Affairs Center of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization Mehdi Qarasheikhlu were among the officials who were at the airport to receive the prominent Qari.

The international Quran competition, named after Imam Hassan bin Khalaf bin Balima Kairouani, a prominent 11th century Tunisian Qari, began in Tunis last Saturday and the winners were announced and awarded on Friday.

In the recitation category, the Algerian Qari bagged the top prize and representatives of Iran and Turkey came second and third, respectively.
