TEHRAN (IQNA) – A Quran competition was held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, earlier this month.

It was organized in two separate sections for men and women by the Iranian Cultural Center in the Southeast Asian country.

The Blue Mosque hosted the competition on December 21-23 and the final round was held at the cultural center.

More than 30 Quran reciters from Manila and the Muslim-dominated Mindanao region took part in the Quranic event.

The three top winners in each section were awarded at the closing ceremony at the center.

Addressing the ceremony, Iranian Cultural Attaché Morteza Sabouri highlighted the importance of learning the Quran, teaching it to others and acting upon its teachings.
