Shia Muslims Mourn Ashura in Kazakhstan

On the occasion of Ashura, Shia Muslims of Kazakhstan and Iranians residing in this country attended a mourning ceremony held by Iran Cultural Center in Astana.


According to IQNA’s branch in Central Asia, the Iranian center hosted the program from the fourth night of Muharram Month for seven nights.



Addressing the program, Hojat-ol-Islam Mostafavi, talked about the features of Husseini movement, Ashura incident and the teachings of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising.



Besides Kazakh Muslims and Iranians residing in the capital city and the staff of Iranian institutes in Kazakhstan, a number of Afghan students also participated at the ceremony and performed mourning rituals on martyrdom of Imam Hussein A(S).



The participants also attended congregational prayers at noon and a mourning program on Shaam-e Ghariban (the night following the day of Ashura).
