Iran's Seyyed Abbas Mousavi, and Egyptian Karim al-Hariri came second and third, respectively.
Hashemi was awarded $5000 while the two others each won $4000 and $3000.
Titled "Inna lil-muttaqina Mafaza" (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31), the Quran competition is annually organized by the al-Kawsar TV network during the holy month of Ramadan.
The seventh edition of the competition began Saturday, June 28, the first day of Ramadan.
This year, it was organized in cooperation with Iran's Awqaf and Charity Affaris Organization.
The preliminary round lasted for 24 days and five contenders who gained the highest score made it to the final round.
