One of the main issues leading to challenges between Islam and the West is their difference in world view, a political and economic analyst said.
Saeed Yari, secretary general of the Organization for Defending Iranian National Interests, in an interview with IQNA said there has been tension between the Muslim world and the West in history reaching it speak in the past 30 years.
He said the majority of people in West, especially the elites, respect Muslims but there is a radical current that produces challenges for other religions including Islam.
Yari noted that there have been to views about Islam in history, one discusses humanity in a humanistic approach and the other studies human beings and other phenomena in the world with the criteria introduced by God.
“Based on the second view, man is the ‘best of Creation’ (Ashraf-ul-Makhlooqat) and all the rest of creation is at the service of mankind.”
He said according to verses of the Quran such as verse 70of Surah Isra “And indeed We have honoured the Children of Adam, and We have carried them on land and sea, and have provided them with At-Taiyibat (lawful good things), and have preferred them above many of those whom We have created with a marked preference,” and verse 72 of Surah Ahzab “Truly, We did offer Al-Amanah (the trust or moral responsibility or honesty and all the duties which Allah has ordained) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were afraid of it (i.e. afraid of Allah's Torment). But man bore it. Verily, he was unjust (to himself) and ignorant (of its results),” mankind has Karamat (honor) and all the world of creation is at his service.
Hence, in monotheistic view humanity has a special status, but the view about human beings developed in the West is a radical one that disregards the Will of God in the world of creation, he stated.
