TEHRAN (IQNA) - The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the horrendous crime by extremist settlers who attacked and burned a house in Nablus, in the West Bank, leading to the burning to death of a Palestinian child, Ali Dawabsheh, and the severe wounding of his family.

The OIC described the crime as a dangerous escalation of terrorist acts by extremist settlers, protected by an indifferent and unperturbed Israeli army, against the Palestinian people, their land and their holy sites.

The Secretary General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Iyad Ameen Madani, said that Israel   should be held fully responsible and accountable for the consequences of these mounting and systematic terrorist acts perpetrated by the extremist settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory.

The Secretary General called on the international community, particularly the permanent members of the Security Council and the states that continue to affirm their everlasting relationship with Israel, to assume their political, moral and humanitarian responsibilities and take immediate and concrete measures to stop these crimes perpetuated by Israeli occupation of Palestinian land.

He emphasized the importance of following up the dossier of Israeli crimes and infractions at the International Criminal Court.

Madani also expressed his hope that Jews everywhere are aware and taking note of the image being portrayed of Judaism, the great, divine, Abrahamic religion, by settlers’ terrorism and the violent extremism of the Israeli government.

The Secretary General also emphasized that the OIC General Secretariat continues to make earnest efforts to convene the emergency Islamic summit called for by the Palestinian leadership to consider the challenges facing the Palestinian cause internally and externally.
