TEHRAN (IQNA) – Saudi police have seized 70,000 distorted copies of the Quran in a truck, local media reported.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, the copies had been planned to be distributed among Hajj pilgrims.

Some 2 million Muslims are currently in the holy city of Makkah to perform the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

The truck driver, who is from a neighboring Arab country, was taking the Qurans from Jeddah to Makkah.

He has been arrested and is being investigated, authorities said.

All of the Quran copies have been confiscated by the country’s culture ministry.
