TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) issued a message of condolence over the death of hundreds of pilgrims in Mina, outside of the holy city of Makkah, on Thursday.

The tragic incident in Mina in which hundreds of pilgrims from different parts of the world were killed caused great grief and sorrow in the Muslim world on Eid Al-Adha, the message read, according to ICRO’s website.

It said such incidents happening these days in the holy sites are the result of mismanagement of Saudi officials.

It seems that the main cause of the disasters is that instead of focusing on their obligations to host the guests of God, the (Saudi) authorities are preoccupied in the crisis they have caused in Yemen and killing of the innocent Yemeni people, the message added.

The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization expresses deep grief on the heartbreaking incident and offers condolences to the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his advent), Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, Iranian nation and all other Muslims and prays for God’s blessings for the victims, patience for their families and fast recovery of the injured, it went on to say.

Iranian Hajj officials say nearly 1300 pilgrims, including more than 130 Iranians, died in the stampede during Hajj pilgrimage rituals in Mina on Thursday.

Ayatollah Khamenei declared three days of national mourning over the heartrending incident.
