TEHRAN (IQNA) – More than 102 memorizers of the entire Quran were honored in a ceremony held by Al-Zawiyah Al-Asmariyah religious school in the city of Zliten in northeast Libya.

According to alwasat website, Mokhtar ibn Ashur, deputy of the school’s education office, said that the ceremony was held on August 23 for 35 girls and 67 boys who successfully completed the Quranic courses of the school.

He added that the school has more than 3000 male and 1900 female students who are memorizing the Holy Quran in 80 educational sessions held three times a day.

The sessions begin from the morning prayers and continue until the evening prayers, Ashur said.

Besides the students from different parts of Libya, there are also students from some other Arab and African countries as well as South East Asia, Russia and Britain who have taken the Quran courses of the school, he added.

Ashur noted that the school was established in the year 1491 by Abdul-Salam Al-Asmar with the aim of disseminating Quran memorization and religious teachings in the society.
