In a statement on the anniversary of the Zionist regime’s decision to annex East Jerusalem al-Quds, Hamas called on the Palestinian nation to continue their Intifada (uprising) in defense of the holy city.

It also urged the Arab and Muslim world to fulfil their responsibility to defend Quds and Al-Aqsa Mosque and adopt a decisive stance against normalization of ties with the Zionist regime.

Hamas said the move by certain Arab regime to normalize relations with Israel emboldened the occupying regime to launch the recent war on the Gaza Strip.

The international community must back the Palestinian nation’s right on the issue of al-Quds, the resistance group further said, noting that the United Nations Security Council in 1967 rejected annexation of the city.

“We remain loyal to al-Quds” and its people and ask all Palestinians to support al-Quds in the face of the occupying regime’s aggression and its policies, it went on to say.

Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds during the Six-Day War in 1967. It later annexed East Jerusalem al-Quds in a move not recognized by the international community.
