Representatives of resistance movements and Palestinian groups attended the funeral, according to SANA.
Jibril, the founder and leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command (PFLP-GC), died of an illness at the age of 83 in the Syrian capital on Wednesday.
He was a notable supporter of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s government in its fight against foreign-sponsored terrorists wreaking havoc in the Arab country since 2011.
His son, Jahad, was assassinated in Beirut in 2002by the Israeli spy agency Mossad.
In a message on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the Palestinian nation has lost a great warrior who spent his life for the liberation of Jerusalem al-Quds.
He added that the demise of Jibril, who was the secretary general of the PFLP-GC, saddened him and all of those who support the axis of resistance.
Zarif expressed condolences to the family of Jibril and members and leaders of PFLP-GC.
