This is according to the seminary’s cultural and propagation deputy, Hojat-ol-Islam Saeed Rousta Azad, who said 230 of them are seminary scholars.

He said the number of those being sent on Ramadan missions is expected to rise to 8,000 by the end of the holy month.

The cleric noted that prior to the pandemic, the number reached around 12,000 in the month of Muharram and 11,500 in Ramadan.

The seminarians go to towns and villages across the country to preach, promote Islamic teachings, answer people’s questions about religious issues and hold religious programs during Ramadan.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting, prayer, reflection, charity and community.
