The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is partnering with the Greater Baltimore Muslim Council to organize the event.
Hundreds of newly arrived Afghan children will be celebrating their first Eid al-Fitr in Maryland this year. CAIR and the Greater Baltimore Muslim Council are accepting new toys through Saturday, April 16.
“We encourage community members to join us in welcoming these families and ensuring that Afghan children in our state feel welcome and enjoy Eid the way children should,” said CAIR volunteer and project lead Nida Jamal.
“It’s our collective responsibility to help make the Eid holiday special for these children,” said Greater Baltimore Muslim Council representative Aisha Khan. “It’s not an Afghan or Muslim issue, it’s an issue of our humanity.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
