LONDON (IQNA) – West Berkshire Muslim Centre opened doors to community amid ongoing Visit My Mosque campaign across the United Kingdom.

West Berkshire Muslim Centre (WBMC) joined mosques and Islamic centres across the country in opening its doors to the public at the weekend.

The annual Visit My Mosque event fell on Saturday, September 23, at Riverside Community Centre.

Visitors were given guided tours of the mosque and learned about the different elements of Islamic worship.

They also had the opportunity to ask questions to mosque leaders and members of the congregation.

WBMC said the event was an opportunity for people of all faiths and backgrounds to learn more about Islam and the mosque.

One visitor said she had always been curious about Islam but had never had the opportunity to visit a mosque before.

She said: “I was really impressed by how welcoming and informative everyone was.

“I learnt a lot about the religion and the mosque and I’m so glad I came.”

There were also stalls with Islamic books, crafts, food and activities for children.

One attendee said he was particularly interested in a stall showcasing Islamic calligraphy and enjoyed having his name written in Arabic.

He said: “I’ve always loved the beauty of Islamic art, and it was fascinating to learn more about the meaning behind the calligraphy.”

The WBMC thanked everyone who attended the open day and the volunteers whoit said made the day a success.

It said: “We were thrilled to see such a good turnout for our mosque open day.

“Meeting our neighbours and sharing our faith with them was a great opportunity.

“We hope everyone who attended learnt something new about Islam and the mosque.”
